Curriculum

The rotations for the Family Practice Residency Program at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital are designed to provide comprehensive training to the resident-physician in all of the medical components necessary to fulfill the broad medical specialty of Family Practice.

To comply with the guidelines listed by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, and to meet the requirements listed in the Special Requirements for Family Practice Residents, the following rotations have been implemented for the LSUHSC Family Practice Residency Program at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital:

PGY 1	Duration
Internal Medicine	3 months
Pediatric-Outpatient	2 months
OB/GYN	2 months
Emergency Medicine	2 months
General Surgery	2 months
Community Medicine	1 month
Vacation	2 weeks
Family Practice Center	1 (1/2) days per week

PGY 2	Duration
Internal Medicine	3 months
Pediatric-Inpatient	2 months
OB/GYN	2 months
Orthopedics	1 month
Practice Management/Sports Medicine	1 month
FPC Walk-In Clinic	1 month
Urgent Care Clinic	1 month
Night Float	1 month
Family Practice Center	2(1/2) days per week
Vacation	3 weeks

PGY 3	Duration
Internal Medicine	2 months
PUL/ICU	1 month
Cardiology	1 month
Pediatrics	1.5 months
Urgent Care Clinic
FPC Walk-In Clinic	1 month
Night Float	0.5 month
Electives	3 months
Family Practice Center	3 (1/2) days per week
Vacation	4 weeks
