Memorial Hospital Announces Bi-Monthly Rosie Thompson Award Winner

The award is named after Rosie Thompson, a woman who served as a surgical aid at Memorial Hospital from 1963 to 1983.  She made a lasting impression on her patients and coworkers because of her friendly, compassionate demeanor and her ability to put people at ease in times of anxiety.  In her honor, Memorial recognizes employees who surpass expectations through their innovation, caring attitudes, teamwork and positivity, setting a high standard of service excellence at the hospital.

This award is presented on a bi- monthly basis to an employee who exceeds expectations in exhibiting the following qualities: innovation, employee development, ethical and fair treatment, teamwork, compassion, improvement, and service excellence while going above and beyond the expectations in the quality of care that Lake Charles Memorial Hospital delivers to our patients, physicians and co-workers.

Sabrina Sonnier, RN, Cardiology

Sabrina was recognized for her unwavering optimism and deep concern for patients and fellow hospital employees alike.  Always with a smile, she goes above and beyond to ensure the well-being and contentment of her patients.



Ann Miller, Secretary, Quality Management

Ann was recognized for her always calm and compassionate demeanor, her constant willingness to help everyone in need, her always dignified and respectful treatment of fellow hospital employees and patients and for her willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty.
2009


Kimberly Freese, RN, Emergency Room

Kimberly demonstrates a calm and compassionate demeanor at all times. Treats all employees and co-workers with dignity and respect and will go out of her way to assist them with their questions.Always has a smiling face, no matter the work load.Never allows anyone to feel unimportant.Continues to think of ways to improve the work flow and make changes to existing processes. She consistently demonstrates a positive service excellence attitude.

Karen Colston, Benefits Administrator, Human Resources

Karen provides timely, professional, effective, and efficient service to all. She also consistently strives to meet and exceed our customer’s expectations. She treats everyone with respect and dignity at all times.



Stephanie Guillory, RN, Psychiatric Health

Guillory received her nursing degree from Lamar State College in Orange, Texas. She has been an employee at Memorial Hospital for seven years. 

“Stephanie’s colleagues and patients had incredible things to say about her positive attitude, excellent leadership skills, and willingness to always go the extra mile,” said Tim Coffey, Memorial’s senior vice president of operations, who presented Guillory with the award.  “She is the ideal candidate for this award because she demonstrates a very high quality of care on a daily basis.”




Richard Roe, RN, Skilled Nursing

Roe, a registered nurse at the Skilled Nursing Facility, was honored because of his compassion, helpfulness, respect and dignity when interacting with patients and coworkers alike. 


2010


Haleigh Lyons, Physical Therapist

A Lake Charles native, Lyons is a graduate of McNeese State University and received her Masters Degree in physical therapy from the University of Rhode Island. She has been an employee at Memorial Hospital for the last six years.

“Haleigh puts patients’ needs first and is a strong patient advocate.  She believes in the power of teamwork, and is well-respected by her peers.  We are fortunate to have her dedication and leadership at Memorial,” said Larry Graham, the hospital’s CEO. 

When asked about her job, Lyons replied, “I enjoy getting to see people make progress with their mobility and get back to living as independently as possible.”
