Larry M. Graham
Chief Executive Officer/President

Larry Graham joined Lake Charles Memorial Hospital as Chief Executive Officer on December 1, 2006, with over 30 years of experience in healthcare administration, most recently with Methodist Hospital in New Orleans.

Prior to his serving as Chief Executive Officer of Methodist, Mr. Graham was CEO of Chalmette Medical Center in St. Bernard. Owned by Universal Health Services, both hospitals sustained major damage as a result of Hurricane Katrina and remain closed indefinitely.During his 10-year tenure with Universal Health Services, Mr. Graham oversaw the financial turnaround of both hospitals while improving healthcare services. As a result, Methodist Hospital and Chalmette Medical Center experienced significant market share increases under his administration. Before transferring to Louisiana, Mr. Graham spent 15 years in administration at several Texas hospitals, including Round Rock Hospital and Terrell Community Hospital.

In addition to a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Illinois, Mr. Graham holds a master's degree in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and a master's degree in Business Administration from Boston University in Massachusetts. He is currently a Fellow of the American College Healthcare Executives.

 
Timothy O. Coffey
Senior Vice President, Operations

Tim Coffey joined Lake Charles Memorial Hospital as Senior Vice President of Operations in November 2006.

A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mr. Coffey is a graduate of the University of Kentucky in Lexington with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, and the University of Louisville with a Master of Science in Community Development/Health Planning, Mr. Coffey has 30 years of experience in all aspects of healthcare facility operations, physician recruitment, strategic planning and business development.

Prior to joining Memorial, Mr. Coffey served as Interim Chief Executive Officer at Doctor's Hospital in Opelousas, Louisiana, and as assistant administrator, business development officer and subsequently chief operating officer at Chalmette Medical Center in Chalmette, Louisiana. He also served as assistant administrator at Northwest Texas Healthcare System, in Amarillo, Texas; administrator and general manager at Integrated Infusion Services in Mandeville, Louisiana; and administrator at Riverview Medical Center Home Health Medical Services, a division of Columbia Healthcare, in Gonzales, Louisiana.

Currently a Certified Healthcare Executive (CHE) Diplomat, Mr. Coffey is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).

 
David B. Usher
Senior Vice President, Business Development

A native of Ville Platte, David Usher joined Lake Charles Memorial Hospital as Vice President of Operations in November 1991. He subsequently assumed the role of Senior Vice President of Business Development in November 2006.

A graduate of the University of New Orleans with a Masters in Public Administration, Mr. Usher has been a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives since 2001, and is a member of the Louisiana Chemical Industrial Alliance, Greater Lake Charles Rotary Club and Louisiana Association of Business and Industry Health Care Task Force. He has also served on the board of the Louisiana Business and Industrial Alliance; as Chairman of the Southwest Louisiana Hospital Association, and on the Louisiana Regents Advisory Committee of the American College of Health Care Executives

Prior to joining Memorial Hospital, Mr. Usher served as vice president of general and administrative services and assistant administrator of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana.

 
Charles P. Whitson
Senior Vice President, Finance

A native of Lake Jackson, Texas, Charles Whitson joined Lake Charles Memorial Hospital as Business Office Director in February 2002. Subsequently he became Assistant Vice President of Finance and Vice President of Finance prior to assuming the role of Senior Vice President of Finance in November 2007.

A graduate of Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Mr. Whitson is a Certified Public Accountant and licensed nursing home administrator. He previously served as a Medicare consultant for Broussard & Company, LLC in Lake Charles; administrator of Charter Behavioral Health Systems of Lake Charles and Charter Woods Behavioral Health Systems in Dothan, Alabama; and assistant administrator, chief financial officer, and administrator of Meadow Pines Hospital in Longview, Texas.

Mr. Whitson is currently a member of the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants and Healthcare Finance Managers Association. He serves on the Health Care Task Force of Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, as well as the Louisiana Hospital Association Finance Committee.

 
Todd A. Delahoussaye
Senior Vice President, Specialty & Physician Services

Prior to joining Memorial Hospital in January 2007, Todd Delahoussaye served as the Administrator of the McAllen Heart Hospital and the McAllen Cardiology Medical Group in McAllen, Texas.

Mr. Delahoussaye is originally from Port Arthur, Texas and has lived and worked in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. A graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, and a Masters in Business Administration, Mr. Delahoussaye has held various positions in hospital and medical group administration, including as Chief Financial Officer of a Physician Group/Surgery Center subsidiary of a national hospital chain; Associate Administrator and Chief Financial Officer of a specialty hospital; Chief Operating Officer of a large oncology services company; and as Regional Practice Management consultant for a national hospital company.

Mr. Delahoussaye is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Medical Group Management Association.

 
Marilyn McSwain

Chief Nursing Officer, Administrator, LCMH for Women

A native of Sulphur, Louisiana, Marilyn McSwain first joined Lake Charles Memorial Hospital as a staff nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in 1977. She has since held a variety of positions within the hospital, including Neonatal Intensive Care Unit manager, program director for the Gauthier Road campus, and assistant vice president of nursing. She assumed the role of Memorial's chief nursing officer in 2005, and administrator of Memorial Hospital for Women in 2003.

A graduate of McNeese State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston with a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration, Ms. McSwain has been certified in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing since 1984.

Currently a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and Louisiana Organization of Nurse Executives, Ms. McSwain is also a member of the National Academy of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) and Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).

 
Bernita Loyd
Vice President Support Services, Chief Privacy Officer

As Vice President of Support Services at Memorial Hospital, Bernita Loyd is responsible for the operations of the telemedicine, housekeeping, laundry, nutritional services, security, and valet parking departments, as well as the Breast Health Center. She also serves as Chief Privacy Officer for the hospital and is responsible for overseeing and monitoring all aspects of the HIPAA privacy and security programs.

A Colfax, Louisiana native, Ms. Loyd joined Memorial in 1990 as a clinical dietician. During her tenure she has also served as a diabetes dietician, clinical nutrition and dietary manager, director of nutritional services and assistant vice president of business development.

A graduate of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition, and McNeese State University in Lake Charles with a Masters in Business Administration, Ms. Loyd is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, McNeese State University Graduate Board, Southwest Louisiana Center for Healthcare Services Board, and the Fellowship of Christian Student Athletes Board.

 
Donna Shields, RN

Vice President, Patient Care Services

A native of Chalmette, Louisiana, Donna Shields joined Memorial Hospital in October 2007 as Vice President of Patient Care Services. A graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she furthered her education at Loyola University.

Ms. Shields began her nursing career at Chalmette General Hospital, which subsequently became Chalmette Medical Center. For 30 years she held a variety of positions in case management, supervision and as unit director. She was Chief Nursing Officer for the last 17 years of her tenure, which ended when the hospital sustained major damage as a result of Hurricane Katrina. It remains closed indefinitely.

Immediately prior to joining Memorial, she served as Chief Nursing Officer at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas.

 
Kathleen DeRouen
Senior Vice President, Marketing

Ms. DeRouen has served as Senior Vice President of Marketing since 2007 and is responsible for directing the facility's annual marketing plan and budget to increase market share, increase service utilization in targeted areas and build public awareness. Ms. DeRouen brings more than 22 years of marketing and public relations experience to the position, most recently having served as Director of Marketing for Ochsner Health System, Director of Marketing & Public Relations for Universal Health Service’s New Orleans market hospitals, Chalmette Medical Center and Methodist Hospital. .

With a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Louisiana State University School of Journalism and graduate education from the University of New Orleans Masters Degree Program in Business Administration, she has been involved in numerous professional and civic organizations during her career. In particular, she is a member of the American Hospital Association’s Society for Healthcare Strategy and Marketing, serving on the strategic task force committee, and the Louisiana Hospital Association’s Society for Marketing and Public Relations.

 
 Leif Pedersen
Senior Vice President, Philanthropy

Immediately prior to joining Memorial, Pedersen served as Vice President of Louisiana Medical Center & Heart Hospital in Lacombe, Louisiana, where he was responsible for marketing, physician relations and managed care oversight for the last three years. He also served as Chief Development Officer for Methodist Health System in New Orleans and was instrumental in obtaining over $23 million in gifts for the System Foundation during his 18 year tenure.

In his “past life” Pedersen traveled throughout the U.S. and abroad as the featured vocalist with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra for more than 6 years and had his own night club act for an additional 8 years.  In 1998 he was inducted into the Southeastern Louisiana University Music Hall of Fame and currently leads his own 14-piece orchestra, The 1944 Big Band.  He and his wife Sheryl, a health educator for Tulane University School of Public Health, are active followers of their 13-year-old son Dane’s travel baseball activities throughout the year.


 
Ginger Consigney
Vice President, Human Resources

Ginger Consigney, a native of Lake Charles, has been in human resources since 1971, serving as human resource manager with W. O. Moss Regional Medical Center. Prior to that, she was with a home health agency in Lake Charles and Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV.

As Memorial’s Director of Human Resources, Consigney will be responsible for directing all human resources functions for nearly 1,500 employees at the 391-bed acute care hospital, which includes a 324-bed facility on Oak Park Boulevard, 38-bed Hospital for Women, and 29-bed acute long-term care facility at Extended Care of Southwest Louisiana.
