Dr. Cohen graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He studied in
London, England at the renowned Imperial College of Science and Technology
under an Athlone Scholarship. A Master's Degree in Medical Engineering
was obtained, with research performed in Biomedical Engineering.
This led to a career in orthopedics, highlighted by expertise in minimally
invasive joint replacement surgery of hip and knee - including resurfacing,
partial replacement and total joint management.
Staying at the leading edge of orthopedic joint replacement and the latest
in post surgical pain management techniques has allowed shorter hospital
stays with the potential for day-surgery joint replacement for young,
healthy patients, as well as the use of computerized navigation to optimize
implant position and expedite recovery.
He specializes in the latest advances is arthroscopic assisted knee resurfacing,
designed specifically to treat early-stage arthritis in middle-aged and
active baby boomers. Along with key surgeons from around the country,
Dr. Cohen was one of the first orthopedic surgeons to use new partial
knee replacement technology and is in the elite group of surgeons using
this new joint preserving option and surgical pain management known as
Exparel. He is also a Medical consultant to BioflightVR, a California-based
medical technology company.
