Dr. Alan Hinton, a Lake Charles native, has been in private practice in
Lake Charles since February 1995. Dr. Hinton specializes in orthopaedic
and sports medicine. Dr. Hinton’s orthopaedic practice focuses on
all arthroscopic surgical procedures of the knee and shoulder. He has
a special interest in all arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery and all arthroscopic
knee surgery. In addition, Dr. Hinton does knee replacement surgery and
shoulder replacement surgery. Dr. Hinton has training in the latest surgical
techniques available for these procedures.
In addition, Dr. Hinton treats acute orthopaedic injuries such as sprains
and broken bones and can often have patients seen in his office the day
that they call for an appointment. Dr. Hinton offers in office MRI scanning.
Dr. Hinton is in solo practice. His entire staff and facility are oriented
towards personal attention to each and every patient. Dr. Hinton’s
professional affiliations include the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Surgeons, American Arthroscopy Association of North America and The American
Association of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He also recently fulfilled
the requirements to receive the Certificate of Added Qualification in
the field of Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.
To receive this special designation the ABOS requires a physician devote
significant time to the field of sports medicine by providing care to
team and individual sports participants. The ABOS reviews the surgeons
case load and type of cases to ensure the surgeon does an above average
amount of sports type cases.
Dr. Hinton is currently serving as the president for the Calcasieu Area
of Council Boy Scouts of America and Assistant Scout Master for Troop
5 with First United Methodist Church in Lake Charles. Dr. Hinton also
serves as a Lector for OLQH Church.
