LCMH Wound Care Center Receives National Award
The Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center was recently awarded the Diversified Clinical Service Center of Distinction Award for 2011.
The Wound Care Center met the following expectations to receive the award:
- 91 Percent healing rate (30 median days to heal)
- 92 Percent patient satisfaction rate
- 19 Percent or less Outliers (patients that don’t heal in 14 weeks)
The Wound Care Center has provided healing for people in Southwest Louisiana since 1991. Specializing in treatment of chronic wounds, the team is made up of local physicians and nurses who are specifically trained in wound care healing.
Approximately five million Americans suffer from chronic open sores that can become seriously infected, gangrenous and, in some cases, require amputation. Chronic wounds refer to any wound that lingers for weeks or months without healing.
While every patient presents unique challenges, the Wound Care Center has successfully treated diabetic skin sores, pressure sores, vessel disease wounds, surgery wound breakdown, coccyx ulcers and poor circulation wounds.
The center also received the Diversified Clinical Service Center of Distinction Award in 2009.
