Saturday Sports Injury Clinic offered at Memorial Hospital
The Saturday Sports Injury Clinic at Memorial Hospital is a comprehensive, one-stop approach to the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries. Starting September 1, the clinic is open at 8 a.m. every Saturday during the fall at Orthopaedic Specialists.
Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brett Cascio, will be on hand to treat all athletic related injuries. The types of injuries seen at the Saturday sports clinic are often fractures, ankle sprains, knee injuries, and hip injuries. It is open to all athletes, coaches and referees, who have been injured in any sport.
Dr. Cascio was fellowship-trained in sports medicine at the prestigious Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. He serves as medical director of Memorial’s Sports Medicine Program, which currently serves area high schools.
Using the latest technology, Memorial’s sports medicine specialists can diagnose injuries in minutes so treatment can begin in the shortest amount of time. The Sports Injury Clinic has teamed up with Advanced MRI to ensure that diagnostic imaging is also available on Saturdays.
Dr. Bryan Barootes and Dr. Brian Harrell of LSU Family Practice will also be present for concussion evaluation and management. With baseline concussion testing already in place for our area high schools, their inclusion in Saturday Sports Injury Clinic will optimize treatment.
Offices are located at 1717 Oak Park Blvd., on the 3rd floor of the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital campus. No appointment is necessary. Patients are urged to arrive at 8 a.m. Parking is available in the hospital’s parking garage.
