Foundation for Fairplay donates to Merryville High School
The Foundation for Fairplay (F3) recently donated $677.50
in athletic equipment to Merryville
The money went towards the purchase of two sets of
catchers gear, 5 batting helmets, two coaches’ helmets and a folding backstop
for the baseball team.
“It helps us stretch our dollars to be able to buy other
equipment that we need,” Merryville head baseball coach David Weldon said. “Safety
equipment is one thing we have to replace every year with all the new
concussion safety rules coming down. Being in a small school you already don’t
have a whole lot of money so this donation means a lot to us.”
F3 was established by The Foundation at Lake Charles Memorial
Hospital in order to
provide a more level playing field in the areas of preventable injury needs.
The fund will assist schools in acquiring equipment such as quality football
helmets, training room equipment needed for the rehabilitation of
sports-related injuries and creating safe physical fitness surroundings.
Funds are distributed through an application process,
which is reviewed by a volunteer board of directors. To learn more about F3 or
