Weakness, numbness, or pain in the legs can be scary discoveries for anyone – but for those diagnosed with peripheral arterial disease (PAD), it is often their normal way of life. This condition, which indicates narrowed or blocked arteries in the legs, can not only be a pain, but life threatening. Thankfully, PAD is treatable, and now there is a new method of treatment that is proving to be the most effective in history – drug eluting stents. Drug eluting stents have long been available for use in the coronary arteries (heart arteries) but now they are being used for the first time in the legs.
