Under the direction of Kashinath Yadalam, MD, Lake Charles Clinical Trials (LCCT) is the only research clinic specializing in psychiatric clinical trials in Southwest Louisiana. Board certified in Psychiatry, Dr. Yadalam has been awarded the title "Certified Physician Investigator"; (CPI) by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators.

At LCCT, clinical trials are conducted using new medications that will possibly help those suffering from mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and others.

Completely voluntary, consent for a clinical trial is fully reviewed and all questions are answered prior to patients participating. Once a patient chooses to sign consent forms, the initial screening process begins, which may include a full mental health assessment, physical examination, hospitalization, and laboratory services at no charge to the participant. Participants receive thorough, professional care and monitoring throughout the duration of the trial. Trials may be conducted on an outpatient and/or inpatient basis, depending on the protocol for each study. Each study has its own duration. Some may last weeks, while others may extend over several years depending on specific protocols.

Dr. Yadalam and the staff of Lake Charles Clinical Trials have conducted more than 45 industry-sponsored clinical studies over the past five years. There are typically between 12 and 15 studies underway at Lake Charles Clinical Trials during any given time.
