Lake Charles Memorial Hospital provides the area's only comprehensive mental health treatment center for both adolescents and adults, with the backing of a full service hospital. Our psychiatric services are designed to identify and treat behavioral and psychiatric mental health problems in children, adults and the geriatric population.

A team approach combines quality care from a variety of disciplines, including a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurses, social workers, case managers, activity therapists, dietitians, occupational therapists and behavioral health coordinators. The treatment team will individually and collectively observe and identify problems that resulted in hospitalization to develop a treatment plan with specific goals and objectives. We aim to promote the highest level of independence and competence possible for each individual.

Inpatient services are available to treat a broad range of mental health disorders, including:

• Mood disorders
• Anxiety disorders
• Schizophrenia
• Cognitive disorders
• Substance abuse
• Dual diagnosis

Individuals who are suffering from any of the following symptoms may benefit from the mental health services at LCMH:

• Danger to themselves or others
• Suicidal
• Homicidal
• Depressed
• Hearing voices
• Sudden onset of confusion
• Medication mismanagement
