The Daffodil Tea is a new program designed by the Foundation at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. The daffodil has long been the symbolic flower for cancer and you can find Daffodil Days presented world-wide during the month of April – National Cancer Control Month. Our event is unique in that it is intended to pair support for our Foundation’s Cancer Care Fund with a parish wide competition that will identify and award scholarships to talented high school seniors intending to further their artistic skills in a college and private setting upon graduation. All proceeds from The Daffodil Tea ticket sales are dedicated to the Cancer Care Fund and scholarships are contributed through individual or corporate support. In this inaugural year, we have asked a panel of experts in the fields of dance, theater, creative writing, instrumental music, vocal music and visual arts to identify one student from each of the six disciplines to represent all of the talented seniors in their particular field of expertise. They will perform at the tea in that capacity.
