Memorial Hospital Announces Bi-Monthly Rosie Thompson Award Winner

Stephanie Guillory, RN, was the recipient of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital’s bi-monthly Rosie Thompson Award for November and December of 2009.  Guillory was nominated by patients and fellow employees for her outstanding examples of service excellence as a nurse in Memorial’s Psychiatric Services department.

Guillory received her nursing degree from Lamar State College in Orange, Texas. She has been an employee at Memorial Hospital for seven years.

“Stephanie’s colleagues and patients had incredible things to say about her positive attitude, excellent leadership skills, and willingness to always go the extra mile,” said Tim Coffey, Memorial’s senior vice president of operations, who presented Guillory with the award.  “She is the ideal candidate for this award because she demonstrates a very high quality of care on a daily basis.”

In addition to the recognition, Guillory received several prizes, including a small cash award. Her portrait will be displayed in the hospital’s main lobby along with other Rosie Thompson winners, and she will also be in the running for the 2009 Rosie Thompson Employee of the Year Award.

The award is named after Rosie Thompson, who served as a surgical aid at Memorial Hospital from 1963 to 1983.  She made a lasting impression on her patients and coworkers because of her friendly, compassionate demeanor and her ability to put people at ease in times of anxiety.  In her honor, Memorial recognizes employees who surpass expectations through their innovation, caring attitudes, teamwork and positivity, setting a high standard of service excellence at the hospital.
