The Southwest Louisiana Hospital Association, which operates as Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, is pleased to announce its Board of Trustees for fiscal year 2008. As the only locally governed community hospital in Lake Charles, Memorial relies on community leaders in finance, media, public policy and business to volunteer their time and talents.

“These healthcare advocates accurately fulfill their fiduciary roles by sitting on compliance, audit, finance and compensation committees,” said Larry Graham, Memorial’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “These committees are subject to external reviews by accounting firms, as well as audits by state and federal agencies and bodies like The Joint Commission that review the actual delivery of patient care.”

The board bid farewell to J. Ted Meinscher, retired Vice President of Gulf State Utilities, who served since January 22, 1982, and to Ray Todd Jr., McElveen Insurance Agency, who served since January 28, 1983.

“Over the last year, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital has navigated through a series of strategic issues that faced the hospital, including the lingering effects of hurricane Rita, renewed growth opportunities, and a new administration,” said Graham. “Pacesetters in the hospital’s redevelopment, Ted and Ray helped set policy and direct us toward operating more effectively and efficiently. “
