Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Mocklin, MD, to the position of Medical Director and Corporate Compliance Officer. 

As Medical Director, Dr. Mocklin will be responsible for decisions relating to utilization, infection control, quality assurance, and the clinical aspects of Memorial’s licensure, research, and delivery of health services.

His role of Corporate Compliance Officer includes the review and evaluation of compliance issues and concerns within the hospital. He will ensure that the Board of Directors, management and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, that hospital policies and procedures are being followed, and that behavior within the organization meets Memorial’s Standards of Conduct.

A New Orleans native, Dr. Mocklin is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson and his residency and chief residency at the LSU Medical Center in New Orleans before going into private practice in Lake Charles in 1982.

Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Mocklin also serves as an Instructor and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at LSU New Orleans, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Graduate Nursing Education at McNeese State University.  Additionally, he is on the faculty of the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program.

Recently, prior to assuming the position of Medical Director and Corporate Compliance Officer with Memorial, Dr. Mocklin retired from the Internal Medicine Clinic of Southwest Louisiana, which he co-founded in March 1996.

He and his wife, Cynthia Scott, MD, are the proud parents of Christine, a graduate of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, and Kathleen, a graduate of LSU and a graduate student at William & Mary in Archeology.

Dr. Mocklin succeeds Dr. Paul Comeaux, who served as Medical Director and Corporate Compliance Officer from 2002 to 2007, following 37 years at Memorial Hospital in private practice.
