Dr. Ken Moss, a general surgeon with Surgical Associates of Southwest Louisiana, serves on the Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees as immediate past president of the medical staff. Dr. Moss serves as the chair of the nominating committee to identify future medical staff officers and as a member of the credentials committee.
A Lake Charles native, Dr. Moss is a graduate of McNeese State University in Lake Charles and Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina Teaching Hospitals in Charleston.
For more than 15 years, Carl Shetler, owner of Shetler Lincoln - Mercury, LTD in Lake Charles, has been a valued member of the Memorial Board of Trustees. Now enjoying more of an advisory role as immediate past chairman, Mr. Shetler served as chairman for three years, and was instrumental in facilitating the change in the hospital's administration after more than 25 years with the same chief executive officer.
A graduate of Alabama's Auburn University with a Bachelor Science in Business Administration and McNeese University with a Certification in Education and a Master of Science in Administration and Supervision, Mr. Shetler began his career in the parts department of his father's Ford dealership while still in high school. He steadily progressed from selling cars to general manager and then owner in 1995.
In addition to his service with Memorial, Mr. Shetler is a past member of the Chamber Southwest Louisiana Board of Directors; past president of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System; and member of the McNeese State University Foundation Inner Circle and the university's Hall of Honor.
Mr. Shetler and his wife Rosie have two daughters and one grandson.
Formerly President of Direct, Inc., an advertising, marketing and public relations corporation, and retired chairman of the Calcasieu Shipyard, Inc. Board of Directors, Sissie Villaume currently serves on the Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees.
In her role as an advocate for the hospital, Ms. Villaume has served on a variety of compliance, audit, finance and compensation committees since joining the board in 1981. She also previously served as the chairman of the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Ms. Villaume is an active civic leader. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; served on the founding board of the Calcasieu Community Clinic; as president of the Junior League of Lake Charles and the Foreman-Reynaud YMCA; as chairman of the administrative board of St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church; and on the board of the Friends of Louisiana Public Broadcasting. She was appointed to the Louisiana Educational Television Authority by Governor Mike Foster in 1997.
Between them, Ms. Villaume and her husband Louis have five sons and ten grandchildren.
A chief justice on the Third Circuit Court of Appeal, the Honorable Gene Thibodeaux has been a member of Memorial Hospital's Board of Trustees since 2000.
Prior to his election to the bench in 1992, Judge Thibodeaux practiced law for 17 years in New York City and Lake Charles, Louisiana, and served as a Lake Charles City Court Judge for a year.
An honors graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, Judge Thibodeaux earned his law degree from Tulane University Law School. He is a member of the American Bar Association, American Judges Association, American Judicature Society, the Judicial Council of the National Bar Association, and the National Board of Trustees of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Louisiana Judicial College, serves on the Louisiana State Law Institute, and is vice-chairman of the Louisiana Judicial Compensation Commission and past chairman of the Conference of Court of Appeal Judges.
Judge Thibodeaux and his wife Phyllis live in Lake Charles.
