Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for Women offers minimally invasive gynecologic procedures and same day surgeries in southwest Louisiana conducted by board-certified gynecologists and surgeons using innovative laparoscopic and hysteroscopic technologies to perform surgery through tiny incisions. This minimally invasive approach enables patients to return to routine activities in a shorter period of time while experiencing less discomfort after surgery.

A laparoscope is a thin, fiber-optic tube that has a tiny video camera at its tip. The laparoscope is inserted through a small incision in the navel and guided to the problem area. The surgeon then inserts tiny surgical instruments through other small incisions to perform a procedure.

A hysteroscope is a thin, telescopic tube used to see inside the uterus. The use of a hysteroscope requires no incisions. The hysteroscope is inserted through the vagina and into the uterus. Small micro-surgical instruments can be inserted through the hysteroscope to perform a procedure.
