Quality Healthcare for Every Generation
Lake Charles Memorial Health System proudly serves all members of our diverse community. In order to achieve our goal of serving the Calcasieu Parish area with excellence, we provide community-targeted programs designed to meet a variety of needs in our area. This includes our programs serving the 50 and older generation.
Are You a Baby Boomer?
In the year 1946, more babies were born than in any year in United States history-as many as 3.4 million, a 20% increase from 1945! This "baby boom" nine months after World War II led to a large generation. Succeeding years snowballed with birth rates that continued to shatter previous records. 1947 saw 3.8 million new births, and 3.9 babies were born in 1952. The 4 million barrier was broken in 1954. Every year after that for a decade saw birth rates of over 4 million! The "baby boomer" generation totaled 76.4 million. At one time, 2 in 5 Americans were baby boomers. If you were born between the years 1946 and 1964, you are a baby boomer!
