Larry M. Graham
Chief Executive Officer, President
With over 42 years of experience in healthcare administration, Larry Graham
has been President & Chief Executive Officer of Lake Charles Memorial
Health System since December 1, 2006.
Since Graham took the leadership position at Memorial, he has spearheaded
improvements in the hospital’s quality, infrastructure, financial
position, service excellence program and staffing. During his tenure Graham
has led a $150 million renovation of Memorial and most recently the opening
of a free standing psychiatric hospital, Archer Institute. In 2013 he
negotiated a collaborative agreement with LSU for the successful transition
of patient services and management of the state-owned W.O. Moss Hospital,
now known as Moss Memorial Health Clinic, under the umbrella of Lake Charles
Memorial Health System.
Another significant accomplishment during his tenure as CEO is the designation
of Memorial as a major teaching hospital through its affiliation with
Louisiana State University Health Science Center’s Family Residency
Program – making it arguably the premier family medicine residency
program in the state. Additionally, under his administration, highly skilled
physicians from top medical schools and centers nationwide have been recruited
to fill crucial community healthcare needs while expanding Memorial Medical
Group from 22 to 100 employed physicians and growing. To find much needed
funding for the area’s only community, not-for-profit hospital,
Graham re-established The Foundation at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital
– the hospital’s philanthropic sector. As a result of all
these activities, Memorial has bolstered its position as southwest Louisiana’s
In addition to a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the
University of Illinois, Mr. Graham holds a master's degree in Health
Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and
a master's degree in Business Administration from Boston University
in Massachusetts. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare
Executives (ACHE). He has previously served on such boards as the Southwest
Louisiana Chamber, the United Way of Southwest Louisiana and the Louisiana
Association of Business and Industry (LABI). Currently, he is a board
member of Vizient, formerly known as the Voluntary Hospital Association
(VHA), the Louisiana Hospital Associations Political Action Committee
(HOSPPAC), and has served as chairman of the Legislative, Regulatory &
Policy Council (LRPC) of the Louisiana Hospital Association, on the advisory
board for Louisiana Medical Mutual Insurance Company (LAMMICO), and most
notably, he is the past Chairman of the Louisiana Hospital Association (LHA).
Charles P. Whitson
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
A native of Lake Jackson, Texas, Charles Whitson joined Lake Charles Memorial
Health System as Business Office Director in February 2002. Subsequently
he became Assistant Vice President of Finance and Vice President of Finance
prior to assuming the role of Senior Vice President of Finance in November 2007.
A graduate of Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree, Mr. Whitson is a Certified Public Accountant. He
previously served as a Medicare consultant for Broussard & Company,
LLC in Lake Charles; administrator of Charter Behavioral Health Systems
of Lake Charles and Charter Woods Behavioral Health Systems in Dothan,
Alabama; and assistant administrator, chief financial officer, and administrator
of Meadow Pines Hospital in Longview, Texas.
Mr. Whitson is currently a member of the Louisiana Society of Certified
Public Accountants and Healthcare Finance Managers Association. He serves
on the Health Care Task Force of Louisiana Association of Business and
Industry, as well as the Louisiana Hospital Association Finance Committee.
Anna Cazes, DNS, RN
Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer
Cazes received an Associates Degree in Nursing from Algonquin College,
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She went on to achieve a Bachelor in Science
in Nursing from Loyola University in New Orleans, then a Master of Science
in Nursing from Southern University in Baton Rouge. Cazes also holds a
Doctorate in Nursing Science from Louisiana State University Health Sciences
Center in New Orleans.
Prior to joining Memorial, Cazes worked at Baton Rouge General Medical
Center where she served as the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President
of Patient Care Services. She is the current president of the Louisiana
Organization of Nurse Executives, a member of the Louisiana State Nurses
Association, American Nurses Association, American Organization of Nurse
Executives and American College of Healthcare Executives. She is also
a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Manley Jordan, MD
Executive Vice President, Medical Affairs & Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Jordan, board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine,
has been a practicing Pulmonary physician since 1989 and joined Pulmonology
Associates of Southwest Louisiana, a part of the Memorial Medical Group,
in 2004. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University
School of Medicine.
As CMO of Memorial Health System, he will be instrumental in aligning clinical
best practices across all affiliated hospitals, clinics and physician
practices and responsible for decisions relating to clinical quality assurance.
He will work closely with system administrators to develop and assess
quality metrics used to strategically drive excellence in the delivery
of health care at Memorial and assist in the continued pursuit of building
a strong, cohesive medical team and a better patient experience.
Executive Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer
Gerald Bryant serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer
for Lake Charles Memorial Health System. He previously served as Vice
President of Patient Care Services at Memorial in the early 2000s.
Bryant is a resident of Welsh. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing
from the University of Louisiana Monroe. His post-graduate training includes
a Masters of Science in Nursing from McNeese State University and a Doctor
of Nursing Practice from Texas Tech Health Science Center.
Bryant has more than 15 years of operational and clinical senior executive
leadership experience. Before returning to Memorial, he served as the
Chief Nursing Officer for Baylor Scott & White Medical Center and
Clinics in Temple, TX. He was named the Texas Hospital Association/Texas
Organization Nurse Executes Nurse Executive of the Year in 2019. Bryant
is a board certified nurse executive and a member of American College
of Healthcare Executive and American Organization of Nurse Executives.
Senior Vice President, Marketing
Kathy DeRouen has served as Senior Vice President of Marketing since 2007
and is responsible for directing the facility's annual marketing plan
and budget to increase market share, increase service utilization in targeted
areas and build public awareness. Ms. DeRouen brings more than 22 years
of marketing and public relations experience to the position, most recently
having served as Director of Marketing for Ochsner Health System, Director
of Marketing & Public Relations for Universal Health Service’s
New Orleans market hospitals, Chalmette Medical Center and Methodist Hospital.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University School of
Journalism and graduate education from the University of New Orleans Masters
Degree Program in Business Administration, she has been involved in numerous
professional and civic organizations during her career. In particular,
she is a member of the American Hospital Association’s Society for
Healthcare Strategy and Marketing and the Louisiana Hospital Association’s
Society for Marketing and Public Relations.
Senior Vice President, Philanthropy
Immediately prior to joining Memorial, Pedersen served as Vice President
of Louisiana Medical Center & Heart Hospital in Lacombe, Louisiana,
where he was responsible for marketing, physician relations and managed
care oversight. He also served as Chief Development Officer for Methodist
Health System in New Orleans and was instrumental in obtaining over $23
million in gifts for the system Foundation during his 18 year tenure.
In his “past life” Pedersen traveled throughout the U.S. and
abroad as the featured vocalist with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra for more
than 6 years and had his own night club act for an additional 8 years.
In 1998 he was inducted into the Southeastern Louisiana University Music
Hall of Fame and currently leads his own 14-piece orchestra, The 1944 Big Band.
Senior Vice President, Physician Services
Jason Rashall joined Lake Charles Memorial Health System as Vice President
of Business Development in August 2013. He is responsible for business
development, physician recruitment, & government advocacy.
Mr. Rashall is a native of Lake Charles and a 1993 graduate of McNeese
State University. He also achieved a Masters of Business Administration
(MBA) from Louisiana State University in 1997.
Prior to joining Memorial Health System, Mr. Rashall served as Vice President
of Physician Alignment for CHRISTUS St. Patrick Medical Group in Lake
Charles. He was also the Vice President of Operations at Medical Provider
Services, Inc. in Lake Charles and Regional Director of Managed Care for
IASIS Healthcare Corporation’s Texas region. Mr. Rashall has worked
in the medical field since 1997.
Bernita Loyd Brown
Vice President, Support Services, Chief Privacy Officer & Moss Memorial
Health Clinic Administrator
In her role as Administrator, Brown oversees the day-to-day operations
of the Memorial Moss campus including the urgent care clinic, various
outpatient clinics, diagnostic department and pharmacy. As Vice President
of Support Services for Memorial Health System, Bernita Loyd Brown is
responsible for the operations of the environmental services, nutritional
services, security, and valet parking departments, as well as the Breast
Health Center. She also serves as Chief Privacy Officer for the hospital
and is responsible for overseeing and monitoring all aspects of HIPAA
privacy and security programs.
A Colfax, Louisiana native, Ms. Loyd joined Memorial in 1990 as a clinical
dietician. During her tenure she has also served as a diabetes dietician,
clinical nutrition and dietary manager, Director of Nutritional Services
and Assistant Vice President of Business Development.
A graduate of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA with a Bachelor of
Science in Dietetics and Nutrition, and McNeese State University in Lake
Charles with a Masters in Business Administration, Ms. Loyd is a member
of the American College of Healthcare Executives, McNeese State University
Graduate Board, Southwest Louisiana Center for Healthcare Services Board,
and the Fellowship of Christian Student Athletes Board.
Donna Shields, RN
Vice President, Patient Care Services
A native of Chalmette, Louisiana, Donna Shields joined Memorial Health
System in October 2007 as Vice President of Patient Care Services. A graduate
of Loyola University in New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing,
she furthered her education at Loyola University.
Ms. Shields began her nursing career at Chalmette General Hospital, which
subsequently became Chalmette Medical Center. For 30 years she held a
variety of positions in case management, supervision and as unit director.
She was Chief Nursing Officer for the last 17 years of her tenure, which
ended when the hospital sustained major damage as a result of Hurricane
Katrina.Immediately prior to joining Memorial, she served as Chief Nursing
Officer at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas.
Vice President, Human Resources
Wendy Fournet serves as Vice President of Human Resources for Lake Charles
Memorial Health System. She came to Memorial in March of 2018. Fournet
is responsible for directing all human resources functions such as recruitment,
benefits, and employee policies across the Memorial Health System.
Fournet brings more than 12 years of human resources management experience
to Memorial. She served as the Chief Administrative Officer for eQHealth
Solutions, before that she was the company’s Chief Human Resource
Officer. Fournet is the former Corporate Director of Human Resources for
Burrow Global, LLC, Executive Director of Human Resources for US Anesthesia
Partners at St. Lukes and Director of Human Resources for CHRISTUS Louisiana
Fournet received her Bachelors in History from Lamar University in Beaumont.
She went on to obtain a Masters in Human Resources/Leadership Development
from Louisiana State University and is a PhD candidate in Human Resources/Leadership
Development from Louisiana State University. She is a member of the Society
of Human Resource Management.
Vice President, Specialty Services
Daniel Aguillard serves as Vice President of Specialty Services. Aguillard
oversees Memorial’s inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services,
including the Archer Institute.
Aguillard is a native of New Orleans. He graduated from Loyola University
with a degree in religious studies and a minor in business. His post-graduate
education includes a masters in social work from Louisiana State University
in Baton Rouge and a masters in hospital administration from Tulane University
in New Orleans.
Aguillard has worked as the president and/or the chief operations officer
overseeing behavioral health facilities in Louisiana since 1990. Before
coming to Memorial he served as the president of Seaside Healthcare, which
provides services throughout Louisiana and North Carolina.
Vice President, Finance
Dawn Johnson-Hatcher serves as the Vice President of Finance for Lake Charles
Memorial Health System. She comes to Memorial with more than 25 years
of healthcare financial experience.
Prior to joining Memorial, Johnson-Hatcher served as the Chief Financial
Officer for CHRISTUS Lake Area Hospital. She has also served as the Assistant
Chief Financial Officer and Financial Security Officer for Northwest Medical
Center Oro Valley and Assistant Chief Financial Officer of El Dorado Hospital
both located in Tucson, Arizona. She holds a degree in business administration
and a master’s in business administration, both from the University
of Phoenix in Tucson.
Vice President, Women’s Services & Memorial for Women Administrator
Alesha Alford serves as Vice President of Women’s Services and Administrator
of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for Women. She is responsible for strategic
planning and day to day operation at Memorial for Women.
Alford has held positions in clinical and administrative areas having come
from Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria where she served as
a nurse manager in labor and delivery. This is Alford’s second stint
at Memorial for Women. She worked there as a shift nurse and staff leader
from 2009 to 2012.
Alford is a two-time graduate of McNeese State University. She holds Bachelor’s
of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor’s in General Studies.
