Areas of Interest
  • Knee Surgery Utilizing the latest arthroscopic, total and partial knee replacement techniques: Dr. Hinton specializes in rapid recovery knee replacement surgery, as well as ACL, meniscus repairs and meniscus transplants. Most patients spend one night in the hospital following replacement. It has been clearly shown that recovery in the home is better and more comfortable for the patient.
  • Shoulder Surgery Utilizing the latest arthroscopic, total, partial & reverse shoulder replacement techniques for rotator cuff, labral and bicep repair: Dr. Hinton excels at restoring shoulder function and physical independence.
  • Hip Surgery Utilizing the computer-assisted, anterior approach: Dr. Hinton has elevated his skill by learning the anterior approach to hip replacement from Dr. Joel Matta in Santa Monica, California. The anterior approach allows for much less pain in the initial recovery period and reduces the risk of dislocation and limp.
  • Hand & Elbow Surgery From carpal tunnel, broken fingers, ganglion, trigger finger and epicondylitis are just a few of hand disorders and problems that Dr. Hinton specializes in. His interest and expertise in hand and elbow problems began during his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. His dedication to providing upper extremity care for student athletes has continued since that time and he is well-known as a sports medicine specialist.
  • Fracture Surgery Specific treatment of broken bones and fractures depends on a variety of factors, including the severity, location and type of recovery required for each fracture. Fractures like people are individual. While certain bones are able to heal through wearing a cast, others require invasive procedures, such as bone fracture repair.
  • Non-Surgical Procedures: Not all injuries or conditions require surgery. Cortisone and lubricant injections, therapy and braces can sometimes be just as effective. Dr. Hinton considers all the options not just surgical ones including therapy, medication and even lifestyle changes. The right brace or injection may be just the right treatment depending on the type and severity of your orthopedic problem.
