The team at Lake Charles Plastic Surgery is led by E. Clyde Smoot M.D. Dr. Smoot was born and raised in Richmond, VA. He entered practice in 1985 working in a university setting. He was a tenured associate professor of surgery and pediatrics and held appointments at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, Southern Illinois University in Springfield, and the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He has written extensively in the medical literature for peer reviewed journals, which can be referenced through the National Library of Medicine PubMed. Dr. Smoot has helped train over 20 residents in the specialty of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Of interest, Dr. Robert Rey of the E-Television show, Dr. 90210, was one of the residents who trained for two years under Dr. Smoot's supervision at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Dr. Smoot entered the full-time practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery in the community of Lake Charles, LA beginning in 1998.In addition to cosmetic surgery, Dr. Smoot also performs surgery for medical needs. These surgeries include skin cancer, scar revision, hand surgery, carpal tunnel, and facial fractures.
