Employee Give-A-Day

Since 2010, the employee Give-A-Dayprogram defrays the cost of particular capital projects through the support of Memorial employees who donate paid time-off (PTO) hours or a monetary equivalent. Over the years, employees have given more than $500,000 in PTO hours and monetary donations.

The first project, was the renovation and expansion of our employee cafeteria, Cafe Bon Vie. Since that time, employees have graciously supported The David B. Usher Reading Room & Library, a tribute to Senior Vice President David Usher a colleague who accomplished so much for Memorial during his years of service. It offers a comfortable seating oasis with WiFi access, daily newspapers, current magazines and periodicals.

Independence Walk offers a real-life, practical physical rehabilitation area complete with multi-textured walking paths and car simulator, as well as traditional rehabilitative stations. This project was completed in the summer of 2016.

Todd Terrace was built in place of a former designated smoking area and now includes umbrella tables, chairs, outdoor music, sculptures and all new landscaping. Visitors and employees can use the terrace to step out into the outdoors while enjoying lunch or a snack. The space is now a NON-smoking area as are all of the Memorial campuses. When Memorial Health System went tobacco free last year, the Foundation began to raise money to renovate the space. Memorial employees stepped up and donated more than $90,000 towards the project. Donors are recognized throughout the terrace with brick pavers.
