Acute Rehabilitation

Helping Patients Regain Mobility

Acute therapists work closely with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other hospital services to safely improve functional status and activity of our patients admitted to the hospital. Our goal is early mobilization for all patients – including post-op patients - as well as orthopedic and cardiothoracic surgical patients, and even ventilator dependent patients. Instruction in modifications to activities helps to safely increase independence. Evaluation and treatment of swallowing problems allow for safe oral intake.

Lake Charles Memorial Acute Physical Therapists play a significant role in decreasing the length of stay of inpatients. Patient participation in therapy services also helps to prevent pneumonia, skin breakdowns, and to improve strength and endurance. Our therapists help to prepare patients for the transition to home or the next level of care. We are continuously exploring new methods and updating our skillset to ensure our patients receive the most advanced therapies.
