Advanced Technology, Delivered by Human Hands

With the world’s most sophisticated technology, we offer finely tuned robotic assistance to surgeons in the operating room for enhanced patient care. The surgeon-guided da Vinci XI® robotics system assists with a wide range of minimally invasive general surgery procedures, including hernia repairs, gall bladder procedures, colorectal surgery, cancer excision, urological procedures, and more. With shorter recovery times, fewer complications, less scarring, and less pain, choosing robotic-assisted surgery can help you get back to the things you love faster.

Our highly qualified and board-certified team of RAS specialists includes three general surgeons, Dr. Darin Doumite, Dr. Amanda Ellington, and Dr. Richard Shimer, as well as one of our urologists and leading robotics expert, Dr. Farjaad Siddiq. Our physicians and their entire operating room staff have completed rigorous hands-on training and have performed hundreds of robotic-assisted surgical procedures since the technology was first introduced at Memorial in 2019.

Enhancing - not replacing - your surgeon's capabilities

Robotics in medicine is often misunderstood. Surgical robot assistants, like the da Vinci XI®, do not autonomously perform surgery. The machine is guided by an experienced surgeon and supervised directly by the operating room staff. This advanced technology serves as an extension of your surgeon’s eyes and hands for more delicate and precise movement during surgery. It translates your surgeons’ movements at the console in real time, moving and rotating instruments to perform each procedure with the most extreme precision possible.

At Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, we are one of the leading hospitals in southwest Louisiana for robotic-assisted surgery. Robotic-assisted surgery technology allows physicians to perform more complex procedures with greater precision, all in less time with less risk, less pain, and faster recovery times than traditional surgery. It’s the most advanced technology, delivered by human hands.
