Sexual Health

At Lake Charles Memorial, we offer assistance in coping with the sexual problems that may arise throughout womanhood. Sexual health is “a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being related to sexuality; not merely the absence of dysfunction or infirmity”, and female sexuality has been recognized by the World Health Organization not only as an important component of women’s health, but also as a basic human right.

  • Over 40% of women in the United States suffer from sexual problems.
  • Women with poor sexual health are more likely to be depressed and less likely to have successful relationships and marriages.

Components of Sexual Health

  • Physical – medical health and safe sexual practices
  • Relational – a healthy relationship and a caring and respectful partner
  • Family planning – family planning, fertility planning, and contraception
  • Enjoyment – the ability to experience and enjoy sexual intimacy

Common Barriers to Women's Sexual Health

  • Endometriosis
  • Pregnancy and Birth Trauma
  • Menopause
  • Cancer

If you are experiencing these or other sexual issues, ask your physician about a referral or call to schedule an appointment.
