Lake Charles Memorial Health System provides cardiac care from our Cardiac
Center. Our surgical team is excellent and highly committed. We provide
a wide range of services, utilizing the most advanced and fine-tuned equipment

Surgery is always the option of last resort, but when surgical intervention
is needed, the cardiovascular procedures performed at Memorial utilize
the most innovative tools and techniques available today. Heart and vascular
surgeries are performed by our skilled physicians and assisted by highly
trained cardiac care professionals. Some of the procedures offered at
Memorial include but are not limited to the following:
Carotid Endarterectomies – The surgical removal of plaque from the carotid artery in the neck
Repair and Replacement of Heart Valves – Valve repair and replacement are performed to treat a variety
of conditions. When possible, repair is preferable over replacement. The
aortic and mitral valves are the most commonly replaced heart valves.
Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts or CABGs – A healthy artery from another part of the body is grafted to the
blocked artery to allow for blood to flow around the blocked portion of
Peripheral Artery Bypasses – Used to treat peripheral arterial disease (PAD), a healthy or
man-made blood vessel is grafted to the damaged blood vessel. This procedure
is primarily done for damaged blood vessels in the leg.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Resections – Surgery performed to repair the wall of the aorta that bulges
into the abdomen and fills with leaking blood from the heart to prevent rupture.
