At Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, our pediatric services treat more kids than any other hospital in Lake Charles.  With the only pediatric intensive care unit and the only pediatric intensive care specialist, Memorial brings the same extraordinary dedication, skill and expertise of our adult care to children.  Every pediatic registered nurse is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support.  Our emergency room caters to children's emergencies with board certified emergency room physicians.  But, we also understand that when your child is sick or injured, it's not enough for a hospital to have the most qualified professionals and advanced technologies. It also takes caring nurses and kind doctors in a kid-friendly, non-threatening environment.

At Memorial, we have expertise in:

At Memorial, we know your child means everything to you. And to us.

Speak Up

At Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, your child’s health and safety are important to our doctors, nurses and other caregivers. You can make a difference in his or her care by asking the right questions and being actively involved.

Memorial is pleased to participate in The Joint Commission Speak Up™ pediatric program, which is designed to help you become more informed and involved in your child’s healthcare. We urge you to:

Speak up if you have questions or concerns. If you still don’t understand, ask again. It’s your child and you have a right to know.

Pay attention to the care you get. Always make sure you’re getting the right treatments and medicines by the right health care professionals. Don’t assume anything.

Educate yourself about your child’s illness. Learn about the medical tests he or she gets, and their treatment plan.

Ask a trusted family member or friend to be your advocate (advisor or supporter).

Know what medicines your child takes and why he or she takes them. Medicine errors are the most common health care mistakes.

Use a hospital, clinic, surgery center, or other type of health care organization that has been carefully checked out. For example, The Joint Commission visits hospitals to see if they are meeting The Joint Commission’s quality standards.

Participate in all decisions about your child’s treatment. You are the center of the health care team.
