Memorial Welcomes Robert Prehn, Ph.D. as Vice President of Specialty Services

Robert Prehn, Ph.D. serves as Vice President for Specialty Services. Prehn oversees Memorial’s psychiatric services and long-term acute care facility (LTAC), Memorial Specialty Hospital.

Prehn is a native of New Orleans and most recently served as the Senior Associate of the Cawley Johnson Group, a national behavioral health consulting and hospital management company.

In addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Biology from the University of Richmond, he holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Management from Louisiana State University and a Ph.D. in Psychology with a minor in Healthcare Administration from Columbia Pacific University.

Prehn has 35 years of specialty and general hospital leadership experience, focusing on Louisiana including: CEO of the Meadowbrook Specialty (LTAC) Hospital (Lafayette), CEO of the Charter Cypress Psychiatric Hospital (Lafayette), CEO of River Parishes Healthcare System (LaPlace), COO of Chalmette Medical Center (east New Orleans), and Senior Vice President of Baton Rouge General Medical Centers.

He has also served as the CEO of the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Austin, Texas where he was awarded the President’s Circle award, Most Improved Hospital award and Marketing Team of the Year by the HealthSouth Corporation.

Prehn is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and The Council of Healthcare Advisors of the Gershon Lehrman Group He has published more than 30 research articles on healthcare, is a former faculty member at UNC-Wilmington and adjunct faculty at UNC-Chapel Hill and frequent speaker to national organizations including the American Psychiatric Association and the American Hospital Association.
