Lake Charles Memorial Health System has been awarded on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2026 for the third year in a row. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.
The America’s Best-In-State Hospitals ranking is designed to help patients identify hospitals that demonstrate strong performance in quality, safety, and patient experience close to home. Hospitals from all 50 states were eligible for consideration, with rankings determined using a comprehensive evaluation that included:
- Nationwide online survey: Over 10,000 medical professionals (doctors, hospital managers and healthcare workers) were asked to recommend the best hospitals (in and out of state) based on their expertise.
- Quality Metrics Data: Data fromMedicare and Medicare Services available for Mortality, Safety, Readmission, Experience, Timely & Effective Care was considered.
- Patient Experience: Cleanliness of the hospitals and quietness, communication of the nurses/doctors and staff responsiveness, care transition, medicine communication, and discharge information.
- PROMS Implementation survey: To account for the increasing importance of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
As a result, the 800 hospitals that scored the highest across these criteria have been included on the list. Lake Charles Memorial, Southwest Louisiana’s health system, is proud to be recognized on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2026 as one of the leading hospitals in the nation.
“This recognition reflects the consistency, accountability, and dedication of our entire healthcare team,” says Devon Hyde, President & CEO of Lake Charles Memorial Health System. “To be recognized for the third year in a row—and as the only hospital in Southwest Louisiana—affirms our role as the region’s health system and our commitment to caring for our friends, families, and neighbors.”
