Lake Charles Memorial Health System (LCMHS) is celebrating student artists from across Southwest Louisiana through its Young at Art program, an initiative that brings student-created artwork into healthcare spaces to enhance the patient experience.
Students from Vinton Middle School, W.T. Henning Elementary School, Sulphur High School, Prien Lake Elementary School, S.J. Welsh Middle School, and LeBlanc Middle School were selected for their creativity and artistic talent. Their work is now displayed throughout LCMHS facilities, where it helps create a more welcoming and uplifting environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
The following students were recognized as Young at Art winners for the 2025–2026 school year:
LeBlanc Middle School: Eli Beaudeaux, Ryleigh Perkins, and Sydney Walter
Prien Lake Elementary School: Kirah Inge De Villiers, Luke Parks, and SuAn Vo
S.J. Welsh Middle School: Leela Rig
Sulphur High School: Ella Chauvin,Myah Mancuso, and Kyle Patin
Vinton Middle School: Serenity Higginbotham and Katelyn Perez
W.T. Henning Elementary School: Lane Areno, Dariany Perez, and Xavier Zapata
LCMHS hosted recognition celebrations to honor these students and their contributions. Local leaders, members of the Calcasieu Parish School Board, and LCMHS leadership attended to show their support for the students and the meaningful role their artwork plays within the hospital.
These gatherings highlight the connection between art and healing—demonstrating how creative expression can bring comfort, reduce stress, and create a more welcoming atmosphere for those navigating healthcare experiences.
Originally created to give students a platform to share their artwork while enhancing the hospital environment, Young at Art continues to reflect that mission by connecting the community through creativity and bringing joy to hospital halls.
