Lake Charles Memorial hosts a free cervical cancer and HPV screening for women in SWLA on Friday, August 29 at the LSUHSC Family Medicine Clinic. No insurance is required.
Women ages 21-65 interested in a screening can call 337.494.6767 to make an appointment.
The screening will be done using a test called a "pap smear." A pap smear is a routine collection of cells from a woman's cervix that can detect cancerous, precancerous, and HPV cell growth. It is recommended that women 21 and older have a pap smear at least once every 3 years.
