Free Seminar: The Silent Killer- Colorectal Cancer

About This Event

  • Event Type:Seminar
Details:

The second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States - and one of the most common cancers in our area - colorectal cancer is often so deadly because there can be no symptoms until it reaches an advanced stage. Prevention and early detection through healthy lifestyle and regular screenings are key components in beating this disease.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Memorial is finishing off the month of screenings and education with The Silent Killer: Colorectal Cancer, a free seminar with Memorial Medical Group gastroenterologist Dr. Sarpreet Basra. Dr. Basra will discuss various types of screenings to promote early detection, as well as treatment options and prevention.

Dr. Basra received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica, West Indies, where he graduated with highest honors. He then moved on to Galveston, Texas, where he completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch.

The Silent Killer: Colorectal Cancer is a free seminar being held Friday, March 31 at 12 noon in the Shearman Conference Center at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital on Oak Park Boulevard.
