The Advanced Technology Fund assists the health system in advancing the technology and techniques used to care for the residents of SWLA.
Currently ongoing support is needed for our DaVinci Surgical Robotics program. The DaVinci Robotic Surgical systems are utilized in robotic-assisted surgery and with minimally invasive lung biopsies.
The robotic surgical systems assist with a wide range of minimally invasive general surgery procedures, including; hernia repairs, gall bladder procedures, colorectal surgery, cancer excision, urological procedures, gynecological procedures and more. With shorter recovery times, fewer complications, less scarring, and less pain, choosing robotic-assisted surgery can help patients get back to the things they love faster.
Peripheral lung biopsy can now be performed using robotic-assisted technology, utilizing the Intuitive Ion endoluminal system. This major medical advancement offers doctors unprecedented stability and precision, addressing a challenging aspect of lung biopsy by enabling trained pulmonologists to obtain tissue samples from deep within the lung, thus detecting earlier stages of lung cancer.
