Financial gifts are not the only way to give to The Foundation. At Lake
Charles Memorial Health System, volunteers are a vital part of the healthcare
system. Established in 1968, the mission of the volunteers is to render
service to the health system and its patients by assisting in promoting
the health and welfare of the community, in accordance with the objectives
established by the health system.
Volunteers provide both tangible and intangible services to the hospital
and its patients – one that is impossible to put a price tag on.
Some of the ways they assist is by visiting with patients and families,
delivering reading materials, staffing the information desk, serving surgery
families, ICU and general waiting rooms, assisting in the
gift shop, and working behind the scenes to support every department.
The Foundation offers volunteering opportunities to all ages – beginning
at 18 years old – as well as a
Junior Volunteer Program for high school students during the summer.
