Ahmad Awan, MD Joins Memorial Medical Group

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is pleased to welcome Interventional and Endovascular Cardiologist, Ahmad Awan, MD to its medical staff. Dr. Awan is board certified in cardiovascular medicine. He joins fellow Memorial Medical Group Heart and Vascular Center physicians Dr. Edward Bergen, Dr. Clay Hammett, Dr. Gregory Lugo,Dr. Christopher Thompson,Dr. King White,Dr. Kevin Young,Dr. Karl Duncan, and Dr. Kurt Duncan.

Dr. Awan received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from Army Medical College, Rawalpindi. He did his residency in Internal Medicine at Howard University Hospital, Washington DC. During his residency, he was awarded “Outstanding Chief Resident” and “Most Valuable Resident” award. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular disease at the same institute where he was also the “Chief Fellow.” Dr. Awan furthered his training in cardiology by doing his fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. He did additional training in Vascular Medicine and Endovascular Interventions, focusing on medical and procedural management of peripheral arterial and venous diseases. Dr. Awan is passionate about teaching and won numerous teaching awards during his residency and fellowship. Dr. Awan is actively involved in professional societies. He is a member of the vascular committee of the Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and scientific sessions committee of the Society of Vascular Medicine (SVM). He is also an avid researcher and has numerous well-cited publications to his credit.

Dr. Awan is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, and Echocardiography. Additionally, he is also a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation.
