Meet Louise Becnel, MD

Dr. Becnel is a board-certified internist and primary care physician at Lake Charles Memorial Health System. She sees patients at Memorial Internal Medicine on 3rd Ave. She is also a provider at Memorial Wound Care Clinic. She has been providing medical care to patients at Lake Charles Memorial Health System for over 20 years.

A primary care physician is often the first medical professional you see when you're sick. They are specifically trained to act as personal doctors, providing long-term, comprehensive care. Internists see adult patients to diagnose and treat a variety of issues – from cold and flu to managing chronic diseases, like hypertension and diabetes. Primary care physicians, like Dr. Becnel, are also the access point to specialty care, like cardiology, orthopedics, and surgical services.

Dr. Becnel holds a bachelor’s degree from Nicholls State University. She began his medical training by obtaining his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans. She then continued his post-graduate and medical training with a family medicine internship at Louisiana State University Medical Center of New Orleans Charity Hospital and an internal medicine residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans.

She is a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Jefferson Parish Medical Society.
